BJP cannot seige democratic rights of JK people further: Tarigami

Srinagar, Oct 09: Senior CPI(M) leader and former MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami Monday said that BJP government cannot siege democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir further. He said the defeat of BJP in LAHDC elections strengthened the stand of regional political parties that BJP is running away from polls owing to its anti-people and autocratic policies.

Minutes before flying to Jammu to participate in a protest call given by opposition parties on October 10, the former MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami said that the defeat of BJP in LAHDC elections exposed their tall developmental claims. He said post August 2019 BJP used every ploy to hoodwink people of India and outside and resorted to autocratic outlook.

He said BJP cannot siege democratic rights of J&K people further and being a people’s voice the regional political parties will flag up their voice against injustices done with innocent people.

To a query he said the October 10 protest has been formed with an aim to highlight people’s miseries including rising inflation, suspension of local constituent assembly, unending political uncertainty etc and divert the attention of democratic and humane voices towards such step motherly role the J&K is meted out. “Election is our right and BJP cannot seize it further. The result of LAHDC elections strengthened our stand that BJP is running away from polls as they know people of J&K will give befitting reply to their atrocities they committed after August 5, 2019,” Tarigami said. kns
