Srinagar, Aug 9: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha besides several mainstream leaders condemned the killing of BJP Sarpanch and his wife in Anantnag district of south Kashmir on Monday.
“I strongly condemn brutal (militant) attack on the Sarpanch GH Rasool Dar and his wife Jawhara Banoo of Redwani Bala,Kulgam.This is an act of cowardice & perpetrators of violence will be brought to justice very soon,” he said, adding, “My deepest condolences to bereaved family in this time of grief.”
National Conference vice president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah “unequivocally condemn the assassination of Ghulam Rasool Dar & his wife.”
“They join a long list of mainstream politicians killed for their political beliefs. My condolences to his family & colleagues. May Allah grant the departed place in Jannat,” he said in a tweet as per GNS.
PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said that it was “extremely sorry to hear that BJP District President & his wife have been shot dead by militants today. My condolences to their families & loved ones.”
Peoples Conference President Sajad Lone also “strongly condemned the killing of BJP Sarpanch Ghulam Rasool Dar and his spouse.”
“ Yet again a Kashmiri family is a victim of violence. Yet again more addition to the community of orphans and hapless victims of gun. May the killers rot in hell,” he tweeted.
BJP JK spokesman Altaf Thakur also “strongly condemned the killing of district president Kisan Morcha BJP for Kulgam, who was also a sarpanch and his wife in a militant attack.”
He termed the killing as barbaric and cowardly. Thakur said the attacking and killing innocent people will lead to nowhere and the acts reflect the frustration on part of militants. He expressed the sympathies with the beraved family and urged police to nab the attackers and punish them sternly.
Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir also strongly condemned the killings, terming the incident as “highly deplorable”.
He demanded that the “perpetrators of this heinous act should be brought to justice.” gns
