Waheed Parra remanded to 15-day NIA’s custody by Jammu court

Srinagar, Nov 27: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Friday was remanded to 15-days of National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.

He was arrested two days ago for allegedly conspiring with Hizb militants to get their support during 2019 parliamentary elections.

The PDP leader was taken to NIA’s Jammu special court in a case related to his alleged links with Hizb militant Irfan Shafi Mir and Naveed Babu, besides DySP Davinder Singh who were arrested earlier this year from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to officials, Parra who was detained on Wednesday after two days of questioning by NIA sleuths in New Delhi was produced in Delhi court on Thursday wherein his transit remand was sought for his production before a designated court in Jammu.

“During the probe into DySP Davinder Singh’s link with Hizb militants, it was found that phone details of Irfan Shafi Mir’s, who was a close associate of Hizb module in south Kashmir revealed the links of Parra”, officials said.

Mir had allegedly confessed that Parra sought his support during 2019 Lok Sabha elections for his party candidate Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister of J&K, officials said. (KNS)
