Srinagar, Sep 19 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has clarified the announcement made earlier in the day with regard to ‘discount in electricity and water bills’ to consumers in the Union Territory.
Spokesperson to Lieutenant Governer-led administration Rohit Kansal (@RohitKansal69) taking to microblogging site twitter wrote “#J&KIndustrialPackage2020 #ElectrictyandWaterCharges #CLARIFICATION THE 50% discount on Electricity and water CHARGES announced in today’s package is 50% discount on FIXED DEMAND CHARGES for Industrial and Commercial consumers. This is NOT a discount on Electricity Bills (sic.).”
The ‘clarification’ has came hours after Lieutenant Governer Manoj Sinha announced that “…We have decided to discount the electricity and water bills by fifty percent for one year which will cost around 105 crores to the state exchequer”, adding “It will be applicable to all the customers including farmer, business, trade and industry class.”
However after the ‘clarification’, the ‘discount’ is suggested to have made as part of a slew of measures taken by the administration to revive the ‘ailing business sector’ in the Union Territory. (GNS)
