Srinagar, Jun 12: Reiterating the importance of continued vigil over the emerging situation in the Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said despite recent success there are still serious challenges of security.
Greater synergy and consistent drive against enemies of peace are paying dividends and yielding good results. Such efforts must continue to ensure that peace is maintained and safeguarded against the onslaughts of elements opposed to a peaceful environment in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh said during his day-long visit to south Kashmir district s of Shopian and Anantnag on Thursday.
A police spokesman said that accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar, the DGP was received by SSP Shopian and other police officers and a guard of honour by a police contingent was presented as he arrived at District Police Lines Shopian.
The DGP chaired a security review meeting and also interacted with cops.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP commended the tireless efforts of the District Police and Security forces in bringing down the militant activities by sustained operations during the past 6 days during which 14 ultras of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba ( LeT) have been neutralised providing a better sense of security to the people in the area.
He said that the sustained efforts of JKP and synergy of police with other forces have yielded notable successes on anti-insurgency front and added that such efforts shall continue in future also to ensure a peaceful environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been the victim of Pakistan sponsored terrorism since decades.
