Encounter breaks out in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, three militants believed to be trapped

Srimagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and the goverment forces in Redwani area of Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

Reports said that a joint team of army’s 1RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Redwani after midnight following inputs about the presence of militants.

They said the militants opened fire after a search party approached the house in which they were hiding. The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight which was on when last reports came.

On Twitter, police said that contact has been established with the militants and that an exchange of fire.

Sources said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. (GNS)
