Situation not favorable for elections in Jammu and Kashmir: Congress

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday said that the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not favorable for holding Panchayat and Local Body elections.

“The Panchayat and Municipal polls were declared in Jammu and Kashmir without taking stock of the ground situation,” state Congress Chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir said addressing a presser in Srinagar.

The JKPCCC earlier held a core group meeting in Srinagar.,

The JKPCC also met in Srinagar on Tuyesday to discuss the situation and later also met Governor Satya Pal at raj Bhavan.

The Jammu and Kashmir’s two regional parties, National Conference and PDP have already announced boycott of the polls.
