The scholar who was killed in an encounter at Shopian, was given doctorate degree in last November

 

The scholar Mohammad Rafi Bhat, who was killed today in an encounter with government forces’ at Bandigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, was given doctorate degree in last November.

Bhat had completed his Ph.D programme on whole time basis in department of sociology after successfully defending his thesis entitled “Globalization and emerging trends in Consumerism: A comparative study of rural and urban Kashmir”.

He was missing since Friday. Protestors have triggered Kashmir University a day after he has gone missing.

After encounter broke out at Shopian today the police came to know that he is among the trapped militants in the house. Following this they called Bhat’s family to offer him surrender but he denied and chose to die while fighting Indian forces.

Following his killing former chief minister Omar Abdullah in his tweet said that “Professor’s killing answer to those who claim jobs a solution to Kashmir issue”.
