KAS officer files sexual harassment case against SP ACB in High Court

Srinagar, Aug 31: A Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer files a sexual harassment complaint in the High Court of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh against Superintendent of police at Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

Reliable sources said that a female KAS officer name (withheld) of the rank of Deputy Director have filed a petition in High Court in which she alleged that Superintendent of police Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) north Kashmir Baramulla during the course of verification have harassed the officer in order to obtain sexual favours from her to close the verification no 09 dated 2022.

The female officer further alleged in her complaint that the impugned verification that has been undertaken by the Anti-Corruption bureau against the officer is without sanction of law.

Taking cognizance of the matter High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh in an order a copy of which lies with KDC directed the state probing agency (ACB) not to undertake any further verification in respect of the complaint which is the subject matter of this petition and also furnish the status report before the court relating to the verification conducted so far.

When contacted SSP ACB north Kashmir Baramulla, Sheikh Ayaz said that a case is under probe with ACB against the officer for indulging in corruption and abuse of official position. The verification was related to disproportionate of assets (DA) and I will file the response to the hon’ble court, he said. kdc
