Illicit Timber Seized in Anantnag’s Chittergul; Smugglers Escape, Case Registered

Anantnag, Jul 19: A Forest Protection Force team has seized illicit timber in Sunglan village of Chittergul in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

An official said that upon receipt of specific information, a team raided Compartment Number 78 at Sunglan village in Chittergul and made seizure of thirty-five cubic square feet of illicit timber from the site last night.

The smugglers involved in the bid however managed to escape the spot, the official said.

An FIR number 55/2021 under section 26 Forest Act has been registered in Police Station Uttersoo in this regard against the involved smugglers the official said adding a hunt has been launched to track them down. gns
