Jammu, May 1: Former Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri professor Irshad Ahmad Hamal passed away at Jammu after testing positive for Covid-19.

Prof Hamal was admitted at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) Batra Hospital Jammu.

Principal ASCOMS Hospital Dr Pawan Malhotra told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Professor Irshad Hamal was Covid-19 positive. “Though his condition had improved but he didn’t cop up with this virus and succumbed,” Malhotra said adding that besides Prof Hamal, three more patients including a lady died in the hospital due to Covid-19.

Professor Hamal before assuming the charge of VC Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was the Professor of Botany at Jammu University.
