COVID-19: 09 patients die, 589 test positive in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday recorded nine Covid-19 related deaths taking the death toll to 1,397 in the Union Territory while as 589 positive cases were reported pushing the J&K tally to 88,958.

Of the total 88,958 cases, 53,302 are from Kashmir and 35,656 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 589 new cases, 348 belong to Kashmir division while as 241 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 53,302 including 47,322 recoveries and 934 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 35,656 including 32,115 recoveries and 463 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 8,124 including 5,046 from Kashmir division and 3,078 from Jammu division.

With 770 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 79,437 which is 89.29 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 136 from Srinagar, 34 from Budgam, 32 from Baramulla, 30 from Pulwama,  04 from Kupwara, 39 from Anantnag, 32 from Bandipora, 21 from Ganderbal, 12 from Kulgam and 08 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 241 from Jammu division include 118 from Jammu, 10 from Rajouri, 10 from Udhampur, 25 from Doda, 09 from Kuthua, 13 from Poonch, 07 from Samba, 25 from Kishtiwar, 11 from Ramban and 13 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours, nine persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include six from Kashmir division and three from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include two from Srinagar and one each from Baramulla, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian in Kashmir division while as three deaths from Jammu division include two from Jammu district and one from Udhampur.

As per officials figures, 17,944 positive cases including 335 deaths and 15,894 recoveries are from Srinagar, 5,697 including 90 deaths and 5,210 recoveries are from Budgam, 5,285 including 3,845 recoveries and 136 deaths are from Baramulla, 4,463 including 4,114 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Pulwama, 4,098 including 71 deaths and 3,713 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,038 including 3,620 recoveries and 71 deaths are from Anantnag, 3,897 cases including 3,568 and 42 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,341 including 3,081 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,409 including 2,271 recoveries and 46 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,130 including 2,006 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 16,340 including 15,044 recoveries and 239 deaths are from Jammu district, 3,132 including 2,799 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,582 including 2,440 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,527 including 2,306 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Doda, 2,342 including 2,259 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Kuthua, 2,161 including 1,580 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Poonch, 2,086 including 1,648 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Samba, 1,752 including  1,510 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Kishtwar, 1,525 including 1,439 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Ramban and 1,209 including 1,090 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 631,601 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 21,785 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 8,124 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 548,026 persons have completed surveillance period and 52,269 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 2,048,631 samples are available.

Out of 2,048,631 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,958,673 while 88,958 have tested positive, among them 8,124 are active, 79,437 persons have recovered and 1,397 persons have died.
