Sumbal, June 10: A three-year-old boy drowned into a canal near his house at Chewdara in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday evening.

Officials said that the deceased boy has been identified as Muzamil Amin, son of Muhammad Amin of Chewdara Beerwah.

“Some locals saw the baby drowning in a canal and they jumped into it and pulled the baby out, but only to found him dead,” they said.

A senior police officer also confirmed the death of the girl due to drowning and said the body was handed over to her family for last rites after legal formalities.
