Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday said that any move against the places of worship and religious matters will be resisted in Kashmir. He was reacting to the slew of government orders which has created panic among people.
In a tweet, Mirwaiz said: Concerned by Govt orders being circulated daily to create alarm among people, after the deployment of more forces. Any move against our places of worship and religious matters will be resisted strongly by all Muslims across the state. Do not deliberately vitiate the situation.”
Recently, a Jammu and Kashmir police note to its officers sought minute details of mosques located across the Kashmir valley.
According to the District Police Headquarters, Srinagar, all Superintendent of Police-level officers in the capital were directed to start gathering information on local mosques.
“Provide details of your mosques and their managements falling under your jurisdictions,” the order read.
The details sought included the name of the mosque, ideological affiliation, name of the local imam (priest) and the management head.
