Anantnag: Government forces on Sunday launched a cordon and search operation in a village in southern Kulgam district. The search operation triggered clashes in the area.

A joint contingent of counter insurgent forces, reports said, threw a ring of cordon around Dobhi Mohalla village of Quimoo in Kulgam district at around 2 pm. The cordon was laid following the credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area. Local sources said as the forces began conducting searches, youth hit the streets and clashed with forces who responded with tearsmoke shells.
