Pulwama: A youth and three army personnel have suffered injuries during the initial exchange of fire in Dalipora area of Pulwama district. 

The youth has been identified as Younis Ahmad Dar, a local, who was hit by a bullet during initial exchange of fire. 

He was shifted to hospital for treatment.

An police official said that three army men were also injured during the initial exchange of fire. 

Soon after the gunfight raged in the village, local youths took to streets and started pelting stones on government forces who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells.

The gunfight ensued after a joint team of forces including army’s 55 RR and SoG Pulwama cordoned off Dalipora after inputs about presence of militants in the area.

As searches were intensified, the hiding militants fired upon government forces resulting in an encounter. (With inputs from KNO)
