Shopian: Government forces on Monday allegedly thrashed a youth during a Cordon and Search Operation in Shopian village who was later hospitalised at SDH Shopian.

Witnesses said that the youth identified as Sartaj Ahmad Bhat received injuries during the thrashing and was shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment.

Earlier, acting on inputs about the presence of militants in the village, a joint team of government forces including 34 RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police’s Special Operations Group launched a search operation in Rawalopora village of the district.

Reports said when the forces found nothing, they entered inside a residential house, snatched dozens of cell phones and beat several youths resulting in grave injuries to one person.
