Another gunfight ensues in north Kashmir, now in Hajin; clashes erupt

Srinagar: Gunfight rages in Mir Mohalla area of Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

Reports said that a joint team of Army’s 13RR, CRPF and SOG launched cordon around Mir Mohalla of Hajin after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.

SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said that the forces had cordoned the suspected house earlier but operation was delayed due to evacuation of civilians near the encounter site.

As per the sources two militants are believed to be trapped.

Following the exchange of fire, local youths engaged government forces in stone pelting clashes who retaliated by firing pellet shots and tear smoke shells. More details are awaited.

Two separate gunfights erupted in north Kashmir’s Sopore and Kandi areas earlier today.
