Sehrai condemns ‘ill-treatment’ of Mushtaq-ul-Islam in Haryana jail

Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairperson Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai Thursday condemned the ill-treatment meted out to pro-freedom leader Mushtaq ul Islam at Haryana Jail and said that he has been kept in solitary confinement in a small cell.

Sehrai, in a statement, said that the pro-freedom leadership and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir day in and day out are subjected to detention for their political beliefs and even basic human rights are denied to them in prisons.

He also condemned the action of authorities by not presenting Masarat Alam before the court which is against the principles of justice and prisoners’ rights. He said that authorities are using these “inhuman tactics” to just prolong his “illegal detention”.

Meanwhile, Sehrai also condoled the demise of mother of journalist Noor Ul Qamrain of (Muslim Kashmir) and prayed for eternal peace to the deceased and courage for the family to bear the loss.
