Srinagar: 65 votes were polled in Gurez panchanyat halqa on Saturday till 10 am out of 3643 registered voters. The voter turnout was recorded at 1.78 percent.

In Tulail, officials said that 182 registered cast their franchise out of 4989 taking the percentage to 3.65.

The results of the Bagtor panchayat hala were awaited, officials said.

Polling for the first phase of Panchayat elections began in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday even as the Kashmir valley is observing a complete shutdown on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership.

At least 47 panchayat blocks will go to the polls in the first phase on Saturday in a nine-phased election process.
