Srinagar: Two militants have  been killed in an ongoing gunfight in a Budgam village of central Kashmir Thursday morning.

Police sources confirmed the death of two militants and said that the gunfight erupted in the wee hours today. “The encounter ensued after a joint contingent of forces who hd laid siege to Zagoo village of the district cam under heavy fire. The forces including army and SOG retaliated triggering a gunfight.”

They said that the operation was launched after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, two bodies of militants have been recovered so far from the site, police said. The operation is still on.

A senior police official posted in the district told The Kashmir Press that the identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.
