Jammu: Police on Saturday arrested a miscreant with a sharp-edged weapon and foiled an attempt of murderous attack in R S Pura area here on the city outskirts.

“Police, during a routine checking, tried to intercept one person at Purana Pind this afternoon but he tried to escape,” police spokesman here said.

He said that he was chased and arrested.

During the search of the arrested person identified as Praveen Kumar alias Peenu of Chak Bakhtawar, one sharp- edged weapon was recovered.

He was arrested on the spot and a case under Arms Act was registered against him and investigation started.
“He was on way to attack his rivals but his arrest foiled the attempt,” police said.
