Srinagar: A cloud burst has been reported on the Shamswari ridge in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district due to which water is flowing downwards towards Tanghdar area, the department of state disaster management said.
The department said the threat arising after the huge quantum of water flowing downwards to the local population is being assessed.
Secretary Disaster Management Farooq Ahmed Shah directed District Administration Kupwara and SDM Karnah to ensure safety of the local population and if necessary, the affected population alongwith their movable property be evacuated to safer locations. DC Kupwara has accordingly issued an alert and directed SDM Karnah, Police, SDRF and Volunteers to provide necessary help to the affected people.
Army has also been asked to provide support to the civil administration.
