Srinagar: Hundreds of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Saturday on eve of Eid day staged a sit-in at Pratap Park in Srinagar to press for their pending demands.

The aggrieved SSA teachers are demanding release of their pending salary as per 7th pay commission and delinking of their salary from MHRD budget.

“We are demanding implementation of 7th pay commission. We have been given every benefit since our engagement in department and now how can government deny benefits of 7th pay commission,” the SSA teachers said.

The protesting SSA teachers also held funeral prayers in absentia for slain journalist Shujaat Bukhari at Pratap Park.
