Sopore, Aug 09: With an aim to eradicate drug menace in North Kashmir’s Sopore town, Jammu and Kashmir Police so far have arrested thirty eight persons in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) cases.
Police said that at least thirty eight persons have been arrested so far in the year 2022 in twenty three NDPS cases in the jurisdiction of Police station Sopore only.
Twenty Public Safety Act’s (PSA’s) have been recommended out of which three persons have been booked under this draconian law.
Those who were already involved in many NDPS cases were booked under the PSA and are currently lodged in outside valley jails, says Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Khalid Fayaz.
The officer appealed to the general public to support the Police in order to make Sopore a ‘drug free’ place.
“Everyone has to play its role. It’s everyone’s responsibility to save the lives of the younger generation and for that police can’t single handedly work on it”, the officer added. kns
