COVID Surge: J&K reports two deaths; 703 fresh cases

Srinagar, Jul 30: Jammu and Kashmir Saturday reported 703 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 4,711 while two more deaths were reported in the UT in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 4,770.

An official said that among 703 new cases, 494 belong to Kashmir division while as 209 to Jammu division.

He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 292,865 including 287,533 recoveries and 2,429 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 171,197 including 167,048 recoveries and 2,341 deaths.

He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,711 including 2,903 from Kashmir division and 1,808 from Jammu division.

With 458 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 454,581 which is 97.96 percent of the total cases.

“Among the fresh 703 cases today, 240 are from Srinagar, 101 from Baramulla, 42 from Budgam, 00 from Pulwama  43 from Kupwara, 32 from Anantnag, 16 from Bandipora, 06 from Ganderbal, 13 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 209 are from Jammu division that include 109 from Jammu district, 20 from Udhampur, 16 from Rajouri, 19 from Doda, 06 from Kuthua , 05 from Samba, 15 from Kishtwar, 06 from Poonch, 11 from Ramban and 02 from Reasi,” said the official.

As per the daily information bulletin 6,696,790 persons in J&K are under observation while 122 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 4,711 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 6,686,914 persons have completed the surveillance period and 273 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,116,073 samples are available.

“Out of 26,116,073 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,652,011 while 464,062 have tested positive, among them 4,711 cases are active, 454,581 have recovered and 4,770 persons have died,” it added.
