Srinagar, July 27: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed Wednesday informed Parliament that the internet services were temporarily suspended in J&K for the maintenance of law and order and to ensure the safety and security of public after abrogation of Article 370.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in a written reply to a question in the Parliament said that after the constitutional changes of 5th Aug, 2019, the internet services were temporarily suspended in J&K for the maintenance of law and order and to ensure the safety and security of public. He however said that the internet services were restored in a graded manner.
“As reported by the J&K government two individuals associated with media organizations have been detained under Public Safety Act(PSA) during the current year,” the Union Minister said.
“Orders of temporary suspension of internet services, issued by competent authority, under the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, during emergent situations, are uploaded on official website of J&K Govt,” he added. kns
