KPs hit streets again: Say ‘Govt ignores us, must think about our safety on priority’

'Why examine transfer policy for reserved category employees only'

Budgam, Jul 26: Kashmiri Pandit (KP) migrants on Tuesday staged a protest at Sheikhpura Budgam against the administration, alleging that the community has been ignored and their demands have not been fulfilled yet.

The KP members have been up in arms since May 12 soon after the killing of their colleague Rahul Bhat, who was killed within the premises of Tehsil office Chadoora, Budgam by militants.

The protesters, who hit the streets again today to register their protest, said that their demands have not been fulfilled by the administration.

The protest was held a day after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had stated that a committee headed by Principal Secretary GAD has been constituted to examine the long pending demand of transfer policy for reserved category employees.

“These SC employees possess a vote bank and we don’t, so the administration is thinking of them and we are being ignored,” a protester said.

“After the killing of Rahul Bhat, we were assured by Lieutenant Governor that our all issues will be resolved but it has been three months now and our main demand (Transfer policy) is yet to be resolved by administration,” another protester said.

If the committee has been constituted to examine the long pending demand of transfer policy for reserved category employees why not for the migrant employees, why so much discrimination, do they possess a vote bank and we don’t?” she questioned.

The government should think about the safety of all Kashmiri minorities and should immediately redress their grievances.kno
