Srinagar, Jul 26: The Congress party is likely to announce the new Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president soon while some of the leaders blame the ongoing questioning of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president, Sonia Gandhi for the delay.
The JKPCC leaders said that the whole leadership is presently busy questioning Sonia Gandhi and it is solely the domain of the central leadership to take a decision in this regard.
Former legislator, G M Saroori when contacted, said that the questioning of Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Department is the grave issue rather than announcing the next president for Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Congress leadership across the country is presently abuzz with the protests against the ongoing questioning of Sonia Gandhi,” he said, adding that it is expected that the decision would be taken by the end of this month.
Former G N Monga also blamed the ongoing questioning of Sonia Gandhi and said that the decision would have been announced in case the grave issue would not have taken place.
“We are expecting that the decision in this regard would be announced after three-four days,” he said
Former Minister, Vikar Rasool, however, said that the questioning has not affected the party activities in any way. “It is the jurisdiction of the party high command to take a decision in this regard. The delay in announcing the decision has not affected the party activities as all the works are going on. The protests are being organized across J&K. The decision should be taken at earliest,” he said.
Congress in-charge for J&K Affairs, Rajni Patil, however, could not be contacted for the comments as she didn’t receive the repeated phone calls.
Pertinently, JKPCC is presently headless after the erstwhile chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir resigned on July 06, 2022, paving the way for the appointment of a new UT chief of the party.kno
