Altaf Bukhari to contest upcoming J&K polls from Uri and Chanpora

Srinagar, July 08: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday said that he will contest the upcoming assembly elections from Uri and Chanpora constituencies.

Bukhari confirmed that he will be contesting assembly polls from Uri and Chanpora constituencies in Baramulla and Srinagar districts respectively.

He said that people from Uri had come to visit him to contest elections from Uri constituency as well.

“My first commitment was with the people of Chanpora, but now that people of Uri insisted me to contest from Uri so I have decided to contest from Uri constituency also,” he said.

Notably, reports are rife that elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held anytime soon.

A couple of days ago Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Monaj Sinha also said that elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held anytime soon.

He said that delimitation process has been completed, now revision of electoral rolls was going on, following which elections will be held in J&K.kns
