Two Hybrid militants arrested in Sopore: Police

Srinagar June 29 : Police on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended two militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba in North Kashmir’s Sopore.

In a statement,  the police said that police alongwith Army (22RR) and CRPF (179Bn) at a joint checkpoint established at Chinar crossing intercepted two persons in a suspicious movement who tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by the alert joint party. During search, 02 Pistols, 02 Magazines and 14 Pistol rounds were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Adnan Ashiq War son of Ashiq Ahmad War resident of Warpora Sopore and Zubair Ahmad Sofi son of Ab Ahad Sofi resident of Fatehgarh Baramulla.

The statement further stated that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are hybrid militants of militant outfit LeT and were in a constant search of an opportunity to carry out militant attacks on security forces and civilians.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated, reads the statement.
