Seven Injured As Picnic Bus from Bandipora Collides With Truck in Awantipora

Srinagar, June 29: Seven persons, including a driver and five students, suffered injuries after the picnic bus they were on board collided with a truck in Kadalbal area of Awantipora on National Highway.

Reports  said that a bus bearing registration number JK05-3783, boarded by students of Higher Secondary School Gadakhod Sumbal, on way back after an outing from Pahalgam, collided with a truck, resulting into the injuries to seven students.

All seven students were removed to PHC Awantipora and later on referred to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment, where condition of all of them is stated to be stable.

The injured have been identified as (Driver) Sahil Bashir Ganie, 20, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Harinaad Pattan, Mohd Ramzan Khan, 40, son of Ab Aziz Khan of Checki Budgam, Mumtaz Hussain Bhat, 18, son of Gh Mohd Bhat of Najan Sumbal, Rayees Ah Hajam, 19, son of Gh Hassan, a resident of Sumbal, Ruha Ullah Hussain Malla, 19, son of Nazir Ahmad, Sakavat Ali Dar, 17, son of Kav Hussain Dar, and Syeed Ruhallah, 18, son of Syeed Mohammad Shah, all residents of Gaad Khod Sumbal.

A police official while confirming the incident said the accused truck driver managed to escape along with vehicle after the incident, adding however, a case under relevant sections stands registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the culprit very soon. gns
