J&K Govt identified land for newly sanctioned 50 colleges: MHA

Srinagar, Apr 27: The government said that it has identified land for the newly sanctioned 50 colleges in J&K which are functioning out of makeshift accommodations.

According to the annual report 2020-21 of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in order to achieve the objective of access and equity, 50 new Government Degree Colleges in the uncovered areas of Jammu & Kashmir sanctioned during the financial year 2018-19, have been made operational and land has been identified almost at all the places and the colleges have been established in makeshift arrangements.

“New initiatives have been started in the Colleges by providing IT enabled classrooms. automation of libraries, e-learning and in this regard digital interactive boards, digital indexing of books have been put in place in 54 colleges,” it said.

“JK DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) and Vidya Daan Apps/ Portals were launched in J&K on 26.06.2020,” the report said. “Different Online Capacity Building Programs and Webinars for students and teachers have been organized during the Lockdown period.”

It said that a Student Health Card was designed by the Directorate of Mid-Day Meal in association with the National Health Mission with the aim of benefitting around 12 lakh students from classes 1 to 12.

The total number of health cards distributed to enrolled students stands at 12.08 lakh, it added.

“Cooked meals were not served to children due to COVID-19. However, in compliance with the Ministry of Education, Gol’s directions regarding Food Security Allowance (FSA) to children during closure of schools, dry ration (Rice) was: distributed among the children at their doorstep,” it said. kno
