Army chief reviews security in Jammu region

Gets feedback from army commanders on prevailing security situation along LoC

Jammu, Nov 03: The army chief General MM Naravane Wednesday conducted aerial survey of forward areas of Jammu region to review the security situation and operational preparedness.

The army chief’s visit to Jammu region comes a day ahead of PM Modi’s scheduled visit to Rajouri district where he will celebrate the festival of lights with the soldiers.

Defence sources said that the army chief carried out aerial reconnaissance of forward areas of Jammu region. “The army chief was briefed by the commanders on ground on the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control,” they said.

The sources said that the army chief got feedback from the army commanders on the recent prolonged operation at Poonch and Rajouri districts. “The army chief asked the soldiers to stay vigilant to foil all designs of enemies,” they said

The army chief was briefed about the infiltration grid and the overall militancy status in the hinterland.
