Live mortar shell found, defused in Khag Budgam

 

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police Saturday defused a live mortar shell in Habber Lasipora forest area of Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Station House officer Khag, Tawfeew Malik said that a live mortar shell was seen by locals and accordingly informed the police. The concerned police team rushed the spot and the area was sealed, he said.

He said all the SOP’s were followed and accordingly, a bomb disposal squad (BDS) of Budgam Police was immediately called and the shell was diffused adding that nobody was injured in the incident.

The shell is an old one and had apparently been swept down from nearby Tosamaidan forests, SHO added. k
