Man secures Rs 28 lakh housing loan using ‘fake documents, stamps’ in Budgam

Budgam, Jun 25: Jammu and Kashmir police have registered a case against a man who secured a Rs 28-lakh housing loan from Jammu and Kashmir bank using “fake” documents and stamps in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official said that man has used the fake stamps of sub-district magistrate, tehsildar, sub-registrar and Patwari to secure the loan from J&K bank branch at Bugroo Khansahib.

“The matter is being investigated whether the cheater is doing this first time or he has been doing the same in past,” an official said.

The accused has mortgaged the land of Haji Bashir Ahmed even without informing him about the same.

An official confirmed that the stamps used by the accused are fake and the stamp maker will also be arrested adding that a case under FIR number 130/2021 under sections 420, 478 has been registered in this regard and further investigations have been started into the fraud.

He identified the accused man as Mukhtar Ahmed Lone of Bugroo Khansahb, husband of a DDC member adding that the bank has already transferred an amount of Rs 15 lakh to a personal account of the man. Add SSP Budgam also confirm about the incident.
