Baramulla, Jun 24: Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Baramulla has suspended nearly two dozen driving licenses and route permits of vehicles found in contravention to different traffic rules here. 

An official in the knowhow of the things said that the department under ARTO Baramulla Mubashir Jan swung into action after receiving frequent complaints from locals into violation of different traffic rules under Motor Vehicle Act. “Rupees one lac twenty six thousand was realised from the erring drivers besides suspension of twenty-six driving licenses and route permits”, the official said.

“Several other vehicle drivers were also fined at different nakas at Sopore and Uri areas”, he said adding that “those fined mainly included two-wheelers and passenger vehicles.” gns
