Baramulla, Jun 22: Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer affairs (FCS&CA) Supplies Tuesday sealed a mutton shop here in main-market area for selling meat on exorbitant rates.

Officials said that on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Bhupinder Kumar, action was initiated against the butcher after a customer complained that the accused was charging 600 rupees per kilogram of meat.

Assistant Director CA&PD Baramulla, Sheikh Tariq said that the shop of the erring butcher was immediately sealed.

“Strict action will be taken against the erring shopkeeper and whosoever is found involved in such practices”, he said.

Pertinent to mention here that the administration has fixed the retail price of mutton at 535 rupees per kilogram without offal and 490 rupees with it. gns
