12 persons arrested as police busts narco-militant module in Baramulla: Officials

Srinagar, Jun 19:  Joint Forces seized Heroin worth 45 crore in international market and arrested 10 persons including 4 non-locals from Punjab in North Kashmir’s bordering town of Uri Baramulla.

A truck, two cars and a Scooty have also been seized from the arrested persons.

“Besides drugs, cash, arms and ammunition have also been recovered from them,”

The arrests were made by Joint Forces including soldiers from 53 Battalion, Special Operation Group and CRPF.

SSP Baramulla Rayeez Ahmed said that they were successful in busting a big narco-terror module.

He said 10 Chinese grenades, 4 Chinese pistols, 4 Pistol magazines, 20 Pistol rounds, Heroin 4. 9 Kgs (value of pure contraband in black market 45 crores), Cash 21.50 Lakh, 2 cheques worth Rs 10 lakh each were recovered from the accused while an Eicher Canter Truck (PB13AR-8956), Hyundai Verna (DL7CM-9873) Scooty (JKO1AA-1827) and a Maruti Swift (JKO1AP-0040) were also seized from them.

Police identified the accused as Reyaz Ahmad Hajam of Yarikah Chadoora Budgam, Adil Bashir ofNemthal Chadoora Budgam, Angraz Singh, a resident of Chadharpur Amritsar Punjab, Sajid Ahmad Shah of Lalpora Lolab Kupwara, Sharafat Khan of Gaisu Kupwara, Shahid Hussain of Khaipora Tangmang, Raman Kumar of Housing Board Colony Ferozpur Punjab, Rohit Chand of Bastia Border road Ferozpur (presently in Central Jail Ferozpur in narcotics case), Krishan Kumar of Bastia Border road Ferozpur and Faiz Ahmad Khan of Keeran Kupwara.

SSP said that teams have been sent to outside Kashmir and more arrests are expected in coming days.
