Surrendered man fired upon cop in custody after ‘stealing’ rifle in Tral

Tral, June 2: A man reportedly in police custody stole a rifle and fired upon a cop inside the SOG camp in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police sources said that a man identified as Muhamamd Amin Malik, a resident of Nagabal Machama village of Tral surrendered before police in Tral on 29 May.

He was involved in a militancy related case while police had lodged an FIR vide number482021 against him at police station Tral.

Sources said that the man had been shifted to SOG Camp for questioning and today he reportedly stole a rifle and fired upon an SOG Constable.

The Constable has sustained injuries and shifted to hospital for treatment.

No Police officer confirmed the incident. An official said that facts are being ascertained. knt
