Gunshots create panic in Shopian village

Shopian, May 31: Panic created in South Kashmir’s Shopian after gun shots reverberated in the atmosphere on Monday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said that people in Zainpora area of Shopian ran for safety after continuous gun shots were heard in the area. They took it as a gunfight between militants and Joint Forces.

They said after inquiry it was found that CRPF personnel from 178 Battalion were doing practice at Babapora Zainpora.

Police sources also confirmed that CRPF personnel were doing practice at Babapora Zainpora area and there was no face-off between militants and soldiers as was perceived by people. knt
