Pattan murder case: 2 cops suspended after video of interrogation goes viral

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday placed two of its officials under suspension and initiated an inquiry against the concerned SHO after a video, purported to be of a police interrogation into murder of a man from Pattan area of north Kashmir in March this year, was circulated on social media.

Police had arrested wife of the man and her alleged paramour in connection with the murder.

“A video purported to be of a police investigation/interrogation is doing rounds on social media,” police said in a statement.

“The same (video) has been found to be pertaining to blind murder case of March 2021 of Police Station Pattan which was solved last month. Both accused shown in video had been arrested for the murder of the husband of the woman shown in the video,” the police said. “The act of the video is highly unprofessional and unbecoming of a disciplined police.”

Two officials, police said, have been suspended for the same and enquiry has been initiated against the SHO concerned. “Supervisory officer has been reprimanded,” the police added. gns
