Two Bears Leave 36-Yr-old With Critical Injuries in Handwara Village

Handwara, May 16: A 36-year-old man has sustained critical injuries after attacked by two bears in Monabal, Haril area in Handwara on Sunday afternoon.

Reports said that one Saif-ud-Din Khattana (36) son of Karim-ud-Din Khattana was pounced upon by the beasts in broad daylight outside his residence. The cries of the victim alerted the local inhabitants, who chased away the beasts towards nearby forests.

A local in the meantime said that the 36-year-old person has sustained critical skull and facial injuries in the ferocious attack.

The injured was evacuated to a local health facility, whereupon he was shifted to District Hospital Handwara. However, it has been lately learnt that the injured person has been referred to SMHS for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile the condition of the 36-year-old person continues to remain critical, when this report is being filed. gns
