‘Nearly 3 lac rupees looted from J&K Bank Branch in Pattan’: Police

Srinagar, Apr 22: An amount in tune of nearly three lac rupees has been looted from a Jammu and Kashmir bank branch in Pattan by unidentified gunmen on Thursday afternoon, police officials said.

They said that the gunmen, donning PPE kits, forced their entry into the bank branch in Sherabad Khore locality and decamped with 2, 86,130 INR besides snatching a 12-Bore rifle from a bank guard on duty – who also suffered some bruises during scuffle during the fiasco.

On being challenged by the locals present there, the gunmen shot several times in the air before running away from the scene, they said adding that “However the gunmen have left behind the vehicle, they used to reach the site.”

The culprits continue to remain at large even as the officials maintaining that an alert has been sounded in the peripheries to nab them. gns
