Srinagar, April 19: The Principal Sessions Court Srinagar on Monday has recorded the statement of head of Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was constituted for the investigation of Srinagar acid attack case during 2014.

Head of Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating acid attack namely Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Baramullla then SP Hazratbal on Monday appeared before the court of Principal District and Sessions Court Srinagar where his statement was recorded and the case has been listed on 3 May 2021 for cross examination.

Special Public Prosecutor AA Teli told CNS that Court has recorded the statement of Rayees Bhat (SSP Baramulla) who was head of Special Investigation team constituted for Speedy investigation of the Nowshera Acid case.
The Court has charged the accused under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 362 (causing damage to vital organ) 354 (Outrage of Modesty) of RPC.

it is pertinent to mention that On December 2014, a 21-year-old college girl pursuing law course was attacked with acid by unknown car-borne youngsters who sped away after leaving the victim in withering pain,

The incident evoked protests and condemnations across Valley, the incident occurred in the vicinity of Kashmir law College at Nowshera in the outskirts of Srinagar city. cns
