Srinagar, Feb 08: Maintaining that the appropriate steps were taken close to the fence in Jammu and Kashmir, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Monday in Rajya Sabha said that 4649 instances of ceasefire took place in year—2020,.

The Defence Minister was replying to a question raised in the house about the appropriate retaliation to the ceasefire violation as required and what are the steps taken including the figures and why isn’t the government taking action to stop the ceasefire from Pakistan.

In a reply, Singh  said that there is no question of laziness and the army has always effectively retaliated to Pakistan not only this time but in the past as well.

“Security grids have managed to confine the actions of Pakistan to the fence only,” he said.

He said that the amount of courage and effectiveness of Border Security Forces (BSF) and other forces is highly commendable.

About the government policy to stop the ceasefire violation, the Defence Minister said that the steps are taken and the weapons used can’t be disclosed but under the cover of ceasefire violation Pakistan pushes militants into Indian territory.

“Ceasefire is also used to exfiltrate the militants from Indian territory into Pakistan and the graph of the ceasefire has shown a surge,” he said.

Singh said that whenever peace prevails in the Kashmir valley the ceasefire violation from Pakistan also shows an increase, however, the security forces are giving befitting replies.

“Anyone who will be able to answer the amount of retaliation from India will be the rulers in Pakistan,” he said.
