Cross-LOC shelling rattles Poonch

Jammu, December 22: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing targeting Indian forward posts and civilian areas along the line of control (LOC) in the border district of Poonch today afternoon, defense spokesperson said.

According to the Defence Spokesperson, at about “1715 hrs Pak troops started firing with small arms followed by shelling with mortars. However, Indian troops guarding the border retaliated immediately and are giving a befitting reply to silence Pak guns”.

“This is the 2nd time today that Pak troops violated ceasefire in Mankote area of Poonch. Earlier, in the morning at about 9.30 Pak troops had targeted Indian forward posts and civilian areas in Mankote area,” the spokesman added.
