280 fresh Covid-19 cases reported in J&K, claims 9 more lives

Srinagar, December 7: Eleven travelers were among 280 fresh novel coronavirus cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir in last 24 hours, taking the number of people infected with the virus to 113568, the officials said, adding, the deadly virus claimed 10 more lives.

While 166 cases were reported from Jammu Division, 114 were from Kashmir valley, the officials said.

Giving the district wise breakup of the cases, they said, Srinagar reported 63, Baramulla 6, Budgam 15,
Kupwara 1, Pulwama 16, Anantnag 3, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 5, Kulgam 2, Shopian 3, Jammu 75, Udhampur 29, Rajouri 6, Doda 12, Kathua 9, Kishtwar 12, Samba 9, Poonch 0, Ramban 3 and Reasi 11.

Moreover, they said, 386 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 165 from Jammu Division and 221 from Kashmir Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir reported nine more deaths due to novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the number of those who succumbing to the virus to 1755.

Among those who died include five from Jammu and four from Kashmir including a 41-year-old man from Sangrama Soporein Baramulla district. The other victims from Valley include an 85-year-old man from Mamar Kangan Ganderbal, a 65-yearold man from Qazigund in Kulgam district and a 70-year-old man from Khanpora Baramulla.

The victims from Jammu include two from the J&K’s winter capital, Jammu-2 besides one each from Udhampur, Kishtwar and Reasi.

With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1130 and 624 in the Jammu region. Srinagar district with 427 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (318), Baramulla (165), Budgam (103), Pulwama (86), Kupwara (85), Anantnag (80), Doda (57), Bandipora (55), Kulgam (52), Udhampur (52), Rajouri (50), Kathua (42), Ganderbal (40), Shopian (37), Samba (33), Poonch (22), Ramban (20), Kishtwar(20), and Reasi (10).
