Militant killed, army trooper injured in Charar-i-Shareef gunfight

Srinagar, September 22: A  militant was killed, and an army trooper was injured in a Gunfight which erupted on Monday evening in Charer-i- Shareef area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources said that militant’s body was recovered along with arms and ammunition from encounter site.

However the identity of the slain militant couldn’t be ascertained yet.

As per the sources, the second militant might have escaped in Intial exchange of fire yesterday, taking advantage of darkness.

The operation was halted due to darkness yesterday and was resumed after the first light of this morning struck, they said.

Yesterday in initial exchange of firing one army trooper sustained splinter injury, who was shifted to 92 Base hospital for specialized treatment.

Earlier, According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in charar shareef.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
