South Kashmir militant bodies recovered in Tulail, buried in Dawar in presence of families

Baramulla, Sep 06 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday buried the bodies of Hizbul Mujahideen militants, whose bodies along with arms and ammunitions were recovered yesterday in Tulail area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Gurez, Peerzada Ajaz that bodies of both the newly infiltrated militants were buried in Dawar area of Gurez in presence of their families.

He said that families of the duo from South Kashmir were called for the last rites.

He also said that some more arms and ammunition were recovered this morning from the spot where militant bodies were recovered.

SDPO said that the duo were identified as Mohammad Umair Bhat son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Tantraypora Kulgam and Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Mohammed Yousuf Dar of Dogripora area of Pulwama.

Meanwhile, sources said that both were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit while Umar was missing from his home since December 2017 and Sameer, a driver by profession, was also missing from his home since August 2019.

They said the duo had crossed the Indian border and reached Pakistan administered Kashmir to take the arms training and both were infiltrating and returning from across the border during which the duo died while crossing the fast flowing Kishanganga river near.

Notably, the police on Saturday said that they have recovered two bodies of newly infiltrated militants from Tulail side which is very close to the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Gurez sector.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations have been initiated in this regard”, an official said—(KNO)
